African M is a South African woman who has lived in the UK for 15 years, here she shares her reflections and adventures in the UK. Residing in Wimbledon, she is working as a district nurse and training part time as a psychotherapist.
Prior to nursing, she had many careers in South Africa - a techinician in an archaelogy department, working in the hotel industry, she has a cordon bleu qualification from Silwood Kitchens in Cape Town and she enjoys cooking and traveling. "Im a bit of a frugal traveller and love bargains, I love to explore different places!"
African M also has a small online art gallery called Rowanafrica, where she promotes mainly emerging artists from South Africa.
One thing that is done well in the UK, is Christmas… the lights, the shows, the pantomime! I've been fortunate enough to win some tickets to see Aladdin at the local theatre and I will be taking some South African friends. Since winning I have been trying to educate them on the humour of the pantomime, but this has been an uphill battle! Hopefully once they have seen the show, they will be converted! Chris ...
