IMPORTANT NOTICE!
WELCOME, You are in the old website section up to 2011, please click HOME to view the website in the new 2012 design and system. THANK YOU!
Let me introduce ourfamily. Izelle, myself (Herman), Ilene and Kaylee immigrated to Australia during June 2007.
Our home is located in the forest (Bonogin Valley) on the Gold Coast. We are roughly 10 minutes from Robina town centre. That means we live in the country but just a hop, skip and jump out of the city. What a change in lifestyle!!
Our experiences (with obvious challenges) were very positive. As I have learned from my Australian friends: IT WAS TOO EASY MATE.
We have done so much here in Australia that it feels as if we have been here forever.
Some experiences were familiar. These include well known South African artists (such as Dozi, Jannie Moolman and Jak de Priester) performing for us.
The weather, braaivleis and sport culture are just too familiar.
South Africans often attend rugby matches between Australian and South African teams. Some South Africans have been here for some time, and it is not uncommon to find the husband and the wife supporting different sides. Lots of fun to be had. We had 4x4 adventures on Fraser Island (driving on the beach is still allowed here at designated spots), which reminded me so much of Sodwana.
Some experiences were totally foreign, such as Brisbane’s Fire on the River event. Another event that was just over the top is the annual Indy 300 race through the streets of Surfers Paradise.
