I moved to Cayman at the end of January this year, mainly because I wanted to gain more experience in financial services (Grand Cayman is one of the leading offshore banking jurisdictions) and to live in a Caribbean paradise, of course… It was one of the best moves I’ve ever made!
The lifestyle here is very laid back. Like many other people I came to the Island on my own, but it is easy to make friends and people are very friendly and helpful. I was surprised to find how many Saffa’s are living here.
The Island is not very big, but it doesn’t have a very good public transport system, so most people have their own cars or bikes. I have a scooter named Molly! Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I would be scooting around an island every day, but it gets me where I have to go (although grocery shopping takes some planning)
The highlight of my day is usually the aerobics class with the Jamaican instructor, as he always says: “Make your shoulders straight and walk proud, JA MAN!”
And when I get a down day, like we all do now and then, there is nothing like a Cayman Island Ice tea and Caribbean sunset to lift the mood!
