Dark or Blue…. Or GOLD!

Electromode Music is very proud to announce that hip hop legends TEARGAS have had a string of accolades presented to them in the last week.
Saturday 20th November saw the band performing in Lagos, Nigeria at the Sound City Music Video Awards and were the recipients of the Best Cinematography award for their video Mhlobo Wami (Gorilla Films)

The moment they touched back down on South African soil, gong in tow, the group received more great news: their third album, Dark Or Blue, just hit GOLD status!! Reaching gold for the group is more than an acknowledgement from their fans, but also represents 7 years of hard work. The group’s success on the third album stems from not only their hit songs, Party 101, Go Away, Mlhobo Wami, Take It Eazy and Goodfellaz, but also from the massive support they’ve received from the radio, television and print media.

Earlier this month, Teargas were also the recipients of the coveted Music Video Of The Year award at the 2010 Channel O Awards for the video Party 101 (Gorilla Films).

On the 11th of December, the group will be returning to Lagos, Nigeria to perform at the MTV Africa Music Awards, where they are also up for a nomination.

2010 also saw the group as the recipients, for the second time, for the Best Rap Category at the 16th Annual MTN South African Music Awards.

The group have decided, that since 2010 was such a huge success, for the most part due to the support of their fans, to release a LIVE DVD entitled Teargas 101. The DVD is a collector’s item, a must-have for all fans, which features a full length live show, a documentary, a behind-the scenes look at their Doritos MIA music video (the first ever 360 degree interactive music video shot in South Africa) and a collection of every single one of their music videos- dating all the way back to their debut hit, Chance.

The DVD is out now!! Look out for the screening of the live music special on Channel O!
