Bonginkosi Dlamini aka Zola, is a man with many talents. Emerging a couple of years ago in the popular drama series ‘Yizo Yizo’, in which he played ‘Papa Action’, not only can he act but he also created the sound track ‘Ghetto Fabulous’.
It was the beginning of audience recognition for his
musical talent.

“I’ve been on television since I was 15, but Yizo Yizo was my greatest break. Almost everybody who was on Yizo Yizo with me became some kind of international star. It was an amazing launch for all of us.”

For Bonginkosi the launch of his sound track was only the start. His debut album sold over 180,000 copies in less
than a year and he has won multiple awards during his musical career.

Bonginkosi’s acting talent soon landed him a role in an Oscar Award winning film ‘Tsotsi’ which took the world by storm and people in South Africa are still talking about it! “I think the most important thing about Tsotsi was that it gave us an international platform and it won an international award,” says Bonginkosi.

Zola now has a successful TV show on SABC 1 named after him. As the ‘Zola 7’ presenter, he is fully committed to helping the dreams of Africans across the continent come true. Growing up in the ghetto himself, Zola understands the problems for young Africans who grow up under difficult circumstances. No wonder they call him ‘president’! He deals with real issues and domestic problems, getting involved in helping people overcome them.

Zola has certainly been a high achiever! He has been
an ambassador for UNICEF, taken part in a keynote discussion for CNN Connects ‘Moving Africa Forward’ and was invited to interview Tony Blair in 2006, to name but a few of his successes.
