Laughter is set to erupt at the Royal Albert Hall this Thursday 20 May as seven of SA’s eight funniest comedians have arrived in London this morning.

The volcano has caused more havoc than a BBC journalist at a Malema rally but with the exception of Marc Lottering, who is suffering from an ashma attack and will only be arriving tomorrow, all of the comedians are ready to spread the lava.

After their London performance, Bafunny Bafunny, SA’s star-studded comedy team featuring eight of the funniest stand-up comedians from the host country, will tour South Africa with their special brand of comedy  in the lead-up to the World Cup.

When asked to comment on the recent Icelandic activity, this is what some of them had to say:

Mark Banks: “I knew there was gonna be trouble when I got volcanic ash in my soup at a top Sandton restaurant… the waiter told me it was a no-fly zone.”

Nik Rabinowitz: “ Eish”

John Vlismas: “Due to the vigorous burning of documents at the Selebi house and heavy production of hot air by Julius Malema, we felt it best to get out of Dodge before we overdosed on material prior to the big show.”

Marc Lottering: “I’m ashes.”

Despite their lack of sporting prowess, the stand-up show will keep the sport parody alive throughout the tour 'fixtures' with each show, or rather 'match', starring the best in SA stand-up comedians as 'players', complete with a 'coach', a 'captain' and big screens with commentators that will keep the 'fans' entertained during 'half time'.

Created by comedy specialists Hunta Live who are no strangers to hosting international comedy heavy-weights in arenas across SA (Chris Rock’s No Apologies Tour to SA, Wayne Brady’s Making it Up SA Tour) or at their annual comedy festivals nationally, their latest offering, Bafunny Bafunny, will make history as the first South African comedy production to be staged at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall.

After kicking off with this momentous 'away game', the team returns to South Africa to complete their national tour in May and June 2010.

Calling on all South African Comedy Fans, to stand up and celebrate SA stand up… the atmosphere will be explosive!
