Getting into the spirit of South Africa, Heineken as the official sponsor of the Holland team for the past 10 years have created yet another superb advert which tells the story of the 'makaraba' from its birth 35 years ago to its existence at the World Cup today.
The makaraba idea was started by Alfred Baloyi when he turned a mining helmut into a creative expression of a hat as football paraphenalia - and now this advert capitalises on this same idea, calling it the Pletter Pet, directly translated as crash hat, and in orange for the Dutch team of course!
With over 36,000 views, this advert is spreading on the internet - and in response to the Pletter Pet advert, the hat complete with a mini vuvuzela, Germany has also created its own version of a World Cup inspired product. With only 6,000 views and counting, the second advert boasts how Holland has always copied their creations and then introduces their latest invention - red, yellow and black German striped ear plugs!
These videos show how the spirit of the South African World Cup has caught the world's attention in all manner of ways!
