I’m a South African on a working holiday and my visa is running out soon. I would like to extend my visa for four months. What can I do and what options are available?

The rules changed at the end of 2008 and the normal six month extension on the working holiday visa can no longer be done.

If you want to extend your stay in the UK, you must apply for a different type or category of visa. For the majority of applications, people on a working holiday need to get ‘entry clearance’ which means the applicant must fly back to their respective country to lodge the application.

The other recent changes were on the Tier 1: Highly Skilled visa. It is now required that applicants must have a Masters Degree to qualify.
