Why would I want to see the doctor if I am not sick?

Preventative health checks are important in the early detection of health problems and conditions which can do harm if left unnoticed. With the current economic downturn and flu pandemic sweeping across the UK, health and fitness are always at the back of our mind. Cancers, tumours and heart problems are often left undiagnosed until the problem begins to affect your everyday life. Diabetes, high blood pressure, weight problems and high cholesterol can lead to cancers and heart disease if left untreated. An annual precautionary health screen can give you peace of mind that you are in great health and leave you in the frame of mind to get on with lifes up and downs.

What would I expect from a health MOT?

Private medical clinics offer Essential Health Screens and Well Woman Screens for around £300. The appointment is often preceded with a questionnaire asking about your state of health and any current concerns you may have. The comprehensive physical examination is personalised, focusing on your individual circumstances as well as past medical and family history.

Pathology testing for conditions such as prostate cancer, anaemia, liver function, diabetes, thyroid function and cervical cancer are also personalised and instrumental for early detection. The consultation will usually last an hour giving you quality time with the doctor allowing you to ask those all important questions which we often don’t get to ask.

How often should I have a check up?

An annual health screen will ensure early detection and treatment of any health problems.

Call us at MediClinic today to arrange your Essential Health Screen or Well Woman Screen with one of our experienced doctors.
