Are you a glass half empty or half full kind of person? In my experience it is often the way you look at life that either drags you deeper and deeper into a dark hole of negativity or enables you to meet each day with optimism and positivity.

But what does this mean... Well put simply - the thoughts we have and the words we use create our actions and therefore the results we get in life. To quote Henry Ford, ‘If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right’.

The first step to re-creating your life is to take notice of the things you think and say. For example... do you complain about the things in your life to anyone who will listen? When someone asks how you are... do you say ‘ok,

I suppose’ or ‘not bad’?  Does this result in you feeling dissatisfied, angry or frustrated?

Becoming consciously aware of your current situation is the first step to change. The next step to re-creating your life is to change your outlook.  Here are a few ways to achieve this...

Be still. Spend a little quiet time with yourself everyday.  We are so used to all the noise and busy-ness in our lives, that we have stopped listening to and trusting in our own inner wisdom.

Eat healthily. Ever heard the saying what you put in is what you get out? Put in dead junk food and you get low energy out. Put in high-energy living foods and experience your energy levels increase.

Breathe deeply... it’s what keeps you alive!

Listen to inspirational music. Music is the fastest way to change your mood and lift your spirits. It is therefore also the fastest way to bring on feelings of sadness, anger and irritability.  What kind of music do you listen to? Does it inspire and lift you?

Be grateful. Gratitude is highly underrated. Saying thank you for all the things you have in your life quickly re-focuses your mind from what you don’t have, to all that you do have.

Be aware of the language you use. Sometimes just a subtle shift can make a huge difference.  Here is a challenge for you... next time someone asks you how you are, instead of replying ‘Not bad thanks’, say ‘I am well thanks’.

Use this as an opportunity to break away from old habits.  Start the day with these few positive steps, because as the ancient Chinese proverb goes “A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.”

And now that you are focusing on everything that is good in your life, you will find that you have the energy and enthusiasm to making changes in all areas.
