I am a South African and thinking about moving my family to Canada. Does Canada have the same rules as the United Kingdom?
Canada is not like the United Kingdom, as Canada does not require its migrants to start on temporary documents and make them reside in Canada for five years before allowing an application for permanent residence.
Canada will award a successful applicant and his or her family permanent residence status from the outset. After three years, migrants can obtain their Canadian citizenship and passports.
The whole family would move together and everyone would be entitled to free medical. Children receive free primary and secondary school education and there is also subsidised university and college education. In addition, pensions and welfare are available.
The process of application takes longer than that of the UK and is currently six months to a year.
