4th South African film and television awards

The fourth annual SAFTA Awards took place at the State Theatre in Pretoria on Saturday 20 February 2010, with the live transmission on SABC2.

Its movie season around the world - with the recent Golden Globes in America, the BAFTAS in Britain and on 7 March, the much awaited Academy awards when Oscars will be announced.

The South African Film and Television Academy (SAFTA) Awards is an annual South African awards ceremony which honours, celebrates and promotes the talent and accomplishments of the South film and television industries in the past year.

The inaugural SAFTA Awards were announced in September 2006 by the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) and were broadcast in a TV special on Saturday 28 October, 2006. The official award is known as a golden horn.
