Eskom says SA saved 420 MW during Earth Hour

According to South Africa’s power utility, the country saved 420 MW on Saturday evening due to the Earth Hour initiative.

This was slightly higher than the 400 MW recorded last year.

Dr Steve Lennon, Eskom’s corporate services MD explained that the 420 MW translated to about four-million 100-W light bulbs or 6,7-million 60-W light bulbs switched off on Saturday. "This shows a concerted effort by about one-million households."
