South African kwaito group Big Nuz have announced their first tour of the UK, playing in London on 14 February.
Big Nuz will headline a Valentine’s Day tour also featuring hit-maker, Oskido (from Johannesburg), and house music juggernaut, Bojo Mujo (also from South Africa).
Oskido and Bojo Mujo kick-off the tour at the West Indian Centre in Leeds on Friday, 12 February before joining up with the Durban kwaito kings on Valentine’s Day at London’s Stratford Rex. Read more...
Background on Big Nuz
The name Big Nuz is made up of 'Big' because they are doing big things and 'NUZ' is the license plate of one of the biggest townships in South Africa, Umlazi situated in the south coast of Durban. The Big Nuz trio of Mandla ‘Mampintsha’ Maphumulo, Mzi ‘Danger’ Tshomela and Sibusiso ‘R Mashesha’ Khomo are currently ruling the South African music scene with back-to-back platinum-selling albums carried by the hits Ubala and Umlilo.
In 2008, Big Nuz earned two nominations at the SAMAs on best Kwaito category and Song of the year. Big Nuz have been the busiest kwaito group in the country. Performing in the 2009 ANC campaigns and also at President Jacob Zuma's inaugauration. In the winter of 2009, Big Nuz released their third album titled Undisputed.
