National Planning Minister Trevor Manuel has been appointed as a member of the High-Level Advisory Group on Climate Change Financing.

Launched last month, the group was established by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon to mobilise financing to assist developing countries in combating climate change.

The ministry said the group of 19 experts will be co-chaired by United Kingdom Prime Minister Gordon Brown as well as the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Meles Zenawi.
