The Sharks ensured that next week's massive derby at Newlands will mean something to the final Super 14 standings by scoring a shock but thoroughly well deserved 20-14 win over the Stormers at Absa Stadium on Saturday night.

The Stormers are still second on the log, and a crucial late try that netted a bonus point ensured that the Cape team will just have to beat the Bulls next Saturday to ensure a home semifinal. Had they not grabbed the bonus, they might have found themselves needing to chase four tries along with the win, which would have made it much more difficult.

As it turns out, what the result means is that the Bulls are now assured of finishing in top position, and that might just reduce the ante for them when they get to Cape Town next week for the long awaited derby against their southern rivals.
