Each year Time Magazine honors the top influential leaders, thinkers, heroes, artists and others who have a major influence in the world. The 2010 gala was held on 4 May at the Time Warner Center in New York.

Two South Africans were honoured this year, in the 'Heroes' category, Graca Michel, former first lady of Mozambique and of South Africa and in the 'Artists' category, Neill Blomkamp, director of Oscar nominated District 9.

The cover of the 2010 issue features top American influencers Sarah Palin and Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
