South Africa's 67 year old president will be needing his thermal gloves on his first UK state visit taking place 3-5 March. Only two world presidents a year get invited to make a state visit to the UK.
Jacob Zuma's visit is the first South African state visit to the UK since Thabo Mbeki came in 2001. Before that, Nelson Mandela was in London in 1995, as people gathered in Trafalgar Square to catch a glimpse of Madiba.
Starting with a state carriage procession along the Mall to Buckingham Palace, lined with South African and British flags in their bold colours, Zuma met Queen Elizabeth II on 3 March during a full ceremonial welcome on Horse Guards Parade.
Zuma is visiting for three days and will take part in talks in Downing Street today, 4 March and is staying at Buckingham Palace, together with one of his wives, Tbeka Madiba Zuma.
