The live broadcast of the MTN SA Music Awards on SABC1 on Saturday night at 8pm in South Africa, is guaranteed to be a world-class event.

This comes as a result of the appointment of renowned international television director Julia Knowles, who will ensure the broadcast of the event from Sun City's Superbowl to millions of South Africans across the nation.

Knowles's CV reads like a wish list for most entertainment directors in the TV game. Knowles has directed a range of music events, from Destiny's Child's last live concert and DVD to Lionel Ritchie's first DVD in Paris to the annual Nobel Peace Prize concerts in Oslo.She has worked with such artists as Madonna, REM, U2, Jennifer Lopez, Eric Clapton and Justin Timberlake, to name a few.

In 1997, MTV asked her to revamp their Europe Music Awards. She revolutionised the event by doing away with a seated audience and bringing thousands of fans to the show. It was a gig she would stage and direct for seven consecutive years.
