Snaking, seething queues and crowds! A sold out mass of Staind and Seether fans, a solid smattering of t-shirt wearing Seether fans and yet not a single Staind t-shirt in my sight.

But how Seether can come to London and not play a dedicated Saffa gig is just sacrilege! Don't that know that their fellow South Africans are last minute.com'ers - and hence many unhappy ticketless Seether fans stayed at home on that Monday night at the end of January!

Kicking off the show like a true rockstar, Shaun Morgan and his bright pink hair sell him as the grunge-esque star he is, complete with a uber trendy black guitar, finished off with a white star. (Close your eyes while he plays, and at times it could be Kurt Cobain – right there, re-incarnated, live and loud in the Forum in north London.)

And with a recent addition of the ex-Evanescence guitarist - Troy McLawhorn - they're getting cooler by the day. Together with John Humphrey on drums and fellow South African Dale Stewart on guitar, its hard to believe its been 10 years since Seether started back in Pretoria.

By the second song the audience already had every hand up in the air in the rock style salute, arms raised and repeatedly punching to the beat. Beneath the mop of hair hanging in his face like a stroppy teenage son, he stepped up to the plate and delivered each desired hit like nothing but a world class pro. Shaun and Seether are the angsty adolescent grunge rock band of which South Africans will always be eternally proud! From a hard core audience-involved rendition of Breakdown, an acoustic version of Broken to Rise above this, Fake it and Remedy - Seether kicked some serious butt that night.

And while Staind had a decent sound, their stage presence was side-swiped by Seether's zinging energy still buzzing in the minds of the masses that night. Over 2,000 people all waiting to hear Staind's much acclaimed 'Its been a while', but Id guess that most went home on rammed tubes that night with renditions of Remedy relegating through their minds.

So, what next for Seether? Well, this show was the last of the Staind tour, and the next stop for the Seether boys, is to play with more of the big boys - 3 Doors Down and Nickelback. Rock on South African grunge rock!
