Biker's charity breakfast run this weekend

Published Date
30 June 2010

On Saturday 3 July, young contenders to Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman’s crown, Erich Rettermayer and Dean Fielden, are to hold a ‘Breakfast Run for Bikers’ from Dorking to Cowfold and are inviting bikers to join them. The event is aimed at raising vital funds for international wildlife charity, the Born Free Foundation, ahead of Erich and Dean setting off on their epic trans-African adventure on 1 September 2010.

The bikers will set out from Rykas at the foot of Boxhill at 8.30am and ride en masse to The Chalet Café in Cowfold, West Sussex, a breakfast-haunt and regular meeting place for biking enthusiasts.

Over a hearty breakfast, there will be a chance to meet fellow bikers and to learn more about the pair’s upcoming African adventure. Erich hopes the ride will be a great success and raise much-needed funds. He said, “As we are setting off from Boxhill, it would be really great if Dorking and other Mole Valley residents could get involved in our ‘Breakfast Run for Bikers’ as we would love to raise as much money as possible for the Born Free Foundation.”

To continue the fundraising efforts, after the ‘Breakfast Run’, bikers, family and friends will be encouraged to set off for ‘Down South’, a South African-themed bar in Southfields, where the pair will be hosting a South African event from 2pm.

Every biker in attendance at the ‘Breakfast Run’ will be asked to give a donation of £5, to include a free drink at ‘Down South’. All proceeds raised will go to the Born Free Foundation.

Erich and Dean are holding various fundraising events throughout the summer, to fund their trip. A percentage of monies raised will go to the Born Free Foundation.
