The Inner City World Cup has been staged annually in London since 1995 and South Africa is part of the 2010 mix!
Among those vying for the crown this year are Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, Bolivia, Sierra Leone, Mauritius, Djibouti, Somalia, Japan, China, Thailand, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, England, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria and France.
The Lovefootball festival is a celebration of football featuring a variety of tournaments to appeal to fans of all ages and abilities plus there is music and food from across the continents. Other attractions include youth football in the Youthoria and Kidzone, a media tournament pitting journalists against one another, a multi-disabled competition, a professional women’s game and veteran’s football.
Event founder Mark Abery said, “We are proud to be bringing the event to Greenwich at such a historic time for the borough. With the Olympics around the corner it is fitting that such a prestigious grassroots celebration of sport should be staged here”.
