South Africa’s disabled swimmer, Natalie du Toit was nominated -and won- in the disabled category for the Laureus award.

The Laureus awards happens annually and celebrates the universal power of sport to bring people together as a force for good, passionately embodying the very spirit of sport – the pursuit of excellence, overcoming challenges, celebrating achievement and excellence, and winning against the odds.
On Wednesday evening the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) announced that Natalie has won.

She is one of just five athletes to have competed in the Paralympics and Olympics, after swimming in both events in Beijing in 2008.
“It is people like Natalie that provide the incentive for youngsters to aspire to greatness. She fully deserves this acknowledgement," said SASCOC president Gideon Sam.
