Supported by the familiar sound of vuvuzelas, South Africa's very own Jordy Smith won his first ASP World Championship Tour event on home surf at the 2010 Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay contest on Sunday 18 July.
Opening up with a 8.90 on his first wave and following it up with a solid 9.03 on his second wave, this win puts him in first place in the WCT ratings.
"This is the best day of my life," Smith said. "The crowd on the beach has been supporting me the last few days and hearing the cheers and the Vuvuzelas just gets me fired up to perform. It feels like they're pushing me along. I couldn't have done it without them."
