They’ve also shot a new video entitled Evil Boy in a similar style to Enter the Ninja, and have so far released a teaser trailer for it! They premiered this video whilst performing an hour-long show at the Bassline in Johannesburg last Saturday. The Evil Boy video also introduces a new character to the current trio. Known only as Wanga, he is an 18-year-old Xhosa speaking street child, affectionately named ‘Evil Boy’ by Ninja. He also performed last week and apparently expresses his views on circumcision.
Since changing their website a few weeks back, the background is now a full screen photo of a rather freaky, yet calm and composed and naked Yo-landi sitting on a throne, covered only with two small dead furry creatures hanging over her bare shoulders. Standing alongside the ice blonde bowl-cut nymph, Ninja’s head is covered in a hessian sack-style mask and a matching monk-like tunic with all sorts of strange symbolism for added interpretation and analysis, because they can! It has been confirmed that this image is in fact the new album cover. While the album is primarily a reworked version of the songs you could already get on the group’s website earlier this year, we’re still excited to hear the songs in their polished form.
Die Antwoord, the self-proclaimed zef rappers (Ninja, Yo-Landi Vi$$er and DJ Hi-Tek), will be releasing their major-label debut album, $0$, on October 12 through Cherrytree/Interscope.
