She went on a not so secret mission to find out more about them as individuals and as a band from a fresh and personal “Saffarazzi Style” perspective. And yes, it was mission accomplished as always, just like 007 but more like 00L in this case.
She reported that from the start she found them easy going, relaxed and very comfortable around people and with each other. The Saffarazzi team could feel the strong bond they have with each other confirming that it not just on stage they portray the image of “we are having fun and we love and enjoy what we do” but in real life, when they are ‘off-stage’, as well. When asked what keywords will best describe the secret behind the bands success and unity, considering it’s 7 members each with their own personalities and lives, they answered quickly and with confidence: ‘PATIENCE, TOLERANCE, LOVE and FORGIVENESS.’
These questions gave us a better understanding about who Freshley Ground is as a band as well as being an individual:
“Elle”: What would you invent if you were given the opportunity?
Josh: A magical gas that would seep into the brains of politicians and we wouldn’t have to pay tax.
Peter: Maybe a global magical gas removing aggression form the whole planet.
“Elle” If you could choose a secret power, what would it be?
Kyla-Rose: Invisibility, just to be a like a fly on the wall when I feel like it – this will make me very happy, I’m a bit nosy…
“Elle” What would you do if you see an endangered animal eat an endangered plant?
Peter and Kyla-Rose: Nothing, let nature take it’s course
Josh: Unless it was the last Dagga bush in the world… then what?
Peter: I don’t want to answer that, I might upset the one minister in SA who walked out of our show because she thought DOO BEE DOO was a song about Dagga.
“Elle” What colour describes your music best?
All: Green, it’s the colour of love from the heart to name just a few of the qualities.
“Elle” What can we expect in the near future from Freshly Ground?
Peter: We just finished recording our new album, it will be released in September in South Africa. We are also planning a big tour in South Africa in October and November. Next year we will be spending a lot of time in Europe.
Josh: We all getting cars from VW, all 7 will be the same colour, so imagine outside our studio, in Long Street, all the cars look the same outside.
Peter and Kyla-Rose: We saw them at the VW-factory the day before we left SA and they look “dam nice”.
