Heads up: Creepy doll planters are all the rage

There’s a reason why so many horror movies have dolls as main characters – they have a level of creepiness that’s hard to explain. Not everyone agrees though, a trend of using dolls heads or bodies as vases to house plants is raising eyebrows – and the hairs on the back of your neck too.

The doll garden is all the rage and they are pretty easy to create. Take a dolls head, fill with a mix of compost and planting soil, slice the top of the head off and fill with any plant you fancy. Succulents are a firm favourite because they are low maintenance and will grow in just about any condition.

The dolls can be made of rubber, plastic or porcelain – just about any works. Alternatively, you can carve out a hole on the dolls back and use as a pot plant. It is a great way of repurposing old toys that have no purpose – just don’t bump into them in the dark.

Some creative planters decorate the dolls with paint, or even permanent markers. Taking it a little too far would be using the limbs as tiny little planters – a hard no for us!

Another option is purchasing porcelain doll heads which are specifically created for pot plants – but where’s the fun or the scariness in that?
