Endless blue skies, sunshine, sun-tanned bodies, bare feet and a cold beer in the hand, sitting with my feet up on the lounge chair, the obstinate squawking of a cockatoo from the Blue gums out back putting the finishing touches… to my back yard.

A massive country of wide open spaces, fresh air, blue skies, great sportsman, interesting animals and friendly people, Australia is the home of many foreigners, with a quarter of all residents foreign-born. Tens of thousands (if not more) of these immigrants are South Africans – not surprising really when you look at the huge correlation in lifestyle, culture, sports, interests, food, geography, landscape, weather, etc. It has often been said that Australia is South Africa without the troubles… Others see Oz as England with sunshine.. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle, either way, it is hard to go wrong when choosing Australia ! Saffers are generally well-liked and accepted here, as long as you come ashore with a willingness to work hard, be honest, fit into the Aussie way of life and forget about all things material you’ll be fine.
