News24 reported that the wife of the Slovakian ambassador to South Africa was stabbed in the arm and back by the mugger. He took her money, keys and other possessions. She is at home recovering.
The robber was described by the police as being in his early twenties but no arrests have yet been made and they are investigating.
The Weekend Argus reported on Sunday that Community Safety MEC Dan Plato condemned the robbery and stated that the mugging could be of huge importance politically.
The group also included a Hungarian ambassador, and Swedish friends of the victim.
