Ban lifted on white pilots

Freeking idiots. That's about all one can say about South African Airways (SAA) and its retarded sister airline SA Express.

Ban lifted on white pilots

Only days after admitting that they only want black cadet pilots, somebody with more than one brain cell realised that what they are doing is unconstitutional.

Now SAA has lifted the ban on applications by whites for its cadet pilot programme and the SAA website had been changed so that applications from white men would not automatically be rejected.

The head of the SaA legal department Fikile Thabethe said the ban was lifted on Friday after trade union Solidarity sent them a letter from their lawyers.

So hopefully that’s the end of their so-called quota system for cadets.

The SAA’s excuse for a spokesperson, Kabelo Ledwaba, said earlier the move to only take in black pilots was meant to bring pilot demographics in line with the country’s demographics.

The closing date for applications to the cadet programme had now been extended from August 17 to August 31.

Meanwhile nobody knows what’s happening with the SA Express and their propeller drive bookkeeping after the news that the poor airline’s entire board of directors was axed because their external auditors said in its audit report it was not able to verify more than R1-bn in accounting adjustments in the 2010/2011 financial year.

Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba sacked the board while spokesman Mayihlone Tshwete said if the management of SA Express are involved in wrongdoing the minister will take steps. Why only them? If the auditors don’t have the figures to work with, get rid of the incompetent sods who manage the airline immediately.
