Eyewitness news spoke to Gerald Carey of Kempton Park about a incident on Thursday afternoon while he was driving home.

After being stopped, one of the officers got into his car and ordered him to drive to the nearest police station. “They were just saying ‘tonight you will learn your lesson, tonight you will die,”‘ said Carey.

At the police station he was put in the back of a police van and taken to an open field where he was allegedly beaten with a baseball bat. He managed to run away during the attack and hitched a ride from a passing motorist before going to hospital.

Police say the officers had laid a charge of assault against Carey. One officer is said to have injuries to his eye and hand.

And now that the Independent Police Investigative Directorate is supposed to investigating, we are all awaiting the outcome. This could years, off course.
