The SPCA in Boksburg, Gauteng spent most of their Tuesday giving support to a terrified dog who became wedged between two walls in Vosloorus informal settlement. The brave SPCA officers eventually carefully broke through the walls and rescued the animal.
In a Facebook post, the Boksburg SPCA said the female dog got herself wedged between two walls at a home in Vosloorus informal settlement. She had been missing from the previous day.
“At around 7:30am this morning, the Boksburg SPCA received a frantic call from a lady claiming her dog, Busi, was stuck. Our driver rushed out to assess the situation. When he realised what he was up against he immediately phoned for assistance from our Inspectorate. We assume the poor girl had been immobilised between the brick structures since yesterday,” the rescuers said.
After trying every possible way to pull Busi out and failing – the last resort was to break through the wall inside the house.
Cadet Inspectors Ralph and Denise began the difficult task of breaking down the wall and eventually Busi was pulled out through the rubble.
“Busi’s owner agreed to let us take her pet back to the SPCA for a warm bath and some pampering. She also agreed to let us spay Busi to prevent a fourth litter of puppies,” said the SPCA.
They are now asking the public to donate R50 towards Busi’s sterilisation and day of pampering.
