Coronavirus infections have been increasing in recent weeks. Some think that it may be time to make vaccinations mandatory in South Africa.
As of this week, there are been at least 51 deaths and a 96 percent recovery rate. With that being said, about 60 percent of the nation has been vaccinated with first doses included.
The first dose rate remains at 35% at this point and is cause for concern with the eight hundred and more cases that have been recorded in the past two weeks.
As a result, there are talks of coronavirus vaccinations becoming mandatory.
According to Budlender, Covid-19 threatened fundamental rights, including the right to life and physical integrity, as well as the right to health, due to the unprecedented pressure, it placed on health services.
Among other things, J&J, as well as Pfizer vaccinations, have been put to a halt due to a slow influx of vaccinations taking place.
“This is clearly a case where the government is obliged to create legislation or regulations that will make vaccinations compulsory to ensure that these fundamental rights are protected,”
Thus far the government hasn’t made vaccinations mandatory for outdoor and business activities, In comparison with the US in where companies with more than 100 employees must be vaccinated or tested weekly.
