Southern Africa was not in immediate danger after Cyclone Batsirai traveled towards the Indian region. It did affect some France residents.

Cyclone Batsirai has been a very hot topic after it has caused a number of incidents on France’s Reunion island with some injured and in some cases were detrimental.

Cyclone Batsirai affected numerous individuals

So far, many have been affected by the severe weather. Some have lost access to electricity since it hit the region. One individual was impacted by the weather severely.

Now, the island was already under a strict covid curfew but was placed on red alert on Wednesday. 

According to RFI, Of the 12 injured people, 10 suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning, a firefighter was electrified while attending a roof fire and another was injured after falling off a roof.

The impact of the Cyclone

Presently, 86 people were killed in Madagascar while some heavy rains have hit Southern Africa. Now, while some homes have been affected through no electricity access, no serious damage has been caused. 

At the time of impact, those who live near the coast were warned to be careful and remain indoors while the weather has its impact on the region. One region has experienced 24 hours of rain.

The extensive winds were traveling approximately 150mph on Wednesday. However, the cyclone has slowed down in the early hours of Thursday morning. 

According to France24, The island is regularly threatened by tropical cyclones. One caused heavy flooding in 2018, while the last devastating cyclone to hit the island came in 2007, killing two people and causing extensive damage.
