Eskom will be implementing Stage 2 load-shedding from Wednesday 02 January due to the shortage of generation capacity. On Tuesday, Eskom warned that the power station is facing some difficulties. Electricity needed to be sparingly at that point.
Eskom implements load-shedding on short notice
This news comes two generators have tripped. As a result, Eskom has depleted its emergency resources. In order to prevent a national blackout, Eskom said it had to implement load-shedding at short notice. According to The Citizen, the national grid does not have enough backup generation capacity to prevent a national blackout.
At this time, Eskom is confident that they’ll be able to replenish the country’s power reserves. The power facility did warn that a further loss of generating capacity will result in load-shedding.
Readiness for planned outages
