HRC to investigate racist SAA

South African Airways' ludicrous anti-white male cadet pilot training programme will at long last be investigated by the Human Rights Commission (HRC). We have previously reported that SAA blatantly will not consider the training of any white male pilots as part of its cadet programme.<br />Trade union Solidarity has been at loggerheads with the mismanaged airline for several years now and announced this week that it convinced the HRC to investigate the controversial programme.

HRC to investigate racist SAA

SAA, once a proud airline, has not had a great track record of late. It had to be bailed out several times over the past years for losing money faster than Jacob Zuma can find another wife. On top if this the airline has changed CEO’s and boards of directors regularly – a dead give-away that mismanagement is the order of the day.
More scary, it has also been reported that SAA’s maintenance crews will be overhauled using a quota system to get rid of white men with years of experience.
But back to the racist cadet programme. Dirk Groenewald, Head of Solidarity’s Centre for Fair Labour Practices, requested the HRC to investigate the matter on behalf of ten white men who had applied for the cadet programme, but whose applications were unsuccessful due to their skin colour. ‘The ten candidates’ right to equality, dignity and freedom of trade and profession was violated by the SAA, as their applications would have been considered had it not been for their race. The cadet programme’s admission requirements discriminate unfairly against white men and amount to nothing more than a quota system. Solidarity’s request is that the SAA be instructed to stop these discriminatory practices and to open the cadet programme to people of all races and sexes. If it is found that the ten candidates would have been admitted to the cadet programme had it not been for their race, the SAA must take the necessary steps to rectify the matter and include the candidates in the programme.’
