South Africans did not need visas to visit the UK, but so many people entered the UK with false SA passports over the years that the UK government warned SA to get its “passport house” in order. This was not done, which effectively forced the UK to enforce a strict visa regime onto South Africans wanting to visit loved ones in the UK or needing to do business in the financial capital of the world.
UK visas are extremely expensive running well over R1000 and now applicants will also have to carry the costs of the tests, which involve x-rays to the chest.
