Sanlam’s spokesman Ainsley Moos said between 20 and 30 protesters wearing EFF berets gathered outside the Sanlam head office in Bellville, Cape Town, tyres and containers containing faeces. One container of faeces was strewn near the office’s entrance.
Police arrived at the scene and some the ‘brave’ EFF members started to run away. Others were arrested. The party’s provincial convenor Nazier Petersen apparently confirmed that some of his members took part in the protest.
Moos said the incident might have been sparked by an employee who was contracted by a labour broker to Sanlam for a period of six months. The broker terminated the contract.
