NATURAL WAYS to Help Combat JET LAG

With many of us frequently travelling abroad jet lag has become a part of modern living. However, travelling across different time zones makes us feel sluggish, fatigued and at risk of contracting all kinds of diseases from breathing recycled air. Then of course there is the dreaded DVT (deep-vein thrombosis) - a blood clot most commonly occurring in the leg.

NATURAL WAYS to Help Combat JET LAG

Here are just a few pointers worth trying:

* Reduce your intake of tea, coffee, fizzy drinks and alcohol (these dehydrate a person; not to mention that alcohol is 2-3 times more potent when you drink it whilst flying! Instead drink plenty of water to keep rehydrated.

* Sugar depletes our body of nutrients and lowers our immune system making us more susceptible to airborne diseases circulating.

* Once you arrive at your destination go for a walk/swim to get the circulation going

* Eat more garlic the week before flying – it’s a good anti bacterial and anti-viral and also thins the blood naturally.

* There are natural remedies to help with circulation such as gotu kola as well as homeopathic mixtures that help reduce symptoms of jet lag – always consult your healthcare professional especially if you are on any medication.

* Move around the plane as much as possible and do the recommended leg exercises provided in your in-flight magazine.
