Oliver, the big-eyed Dachshund-cross, has crept into many hearts after pictures of him looking up from a rusty bucket was shared on social media by the Boksburg SPCA.
His owner dumped him in their care a week ago, and since then donations have poured in from all over the world. Oliver was seriously malnourished and cowers at the sight of humans, an indication of his past traumas.
The good news is that he is eating really well, his blood work came back with no indications of serious health issues – and he is safe.
On Monday, 17 May the Boksburg SPCA shared another update on his health to keep his many fans updated.
“When we went to visit Oliver this morning, he wasn’t in his usual kennel at the veterinary practice. Just as panic was about to kick in, we found him snuggled up in a warm bed, next to a heater behind the reception counter.
“This boy has the receptionists and office staff wrapped around his paw and everytime one of the ladies walk past his bed, he receives a mushy kiss on the nose or a quick cuddle. We took Oli outside for a bit of sunshine but he preferred his bed next to the heater. Oliver definitely has more colour now and is still eating well. Progress is slow but we’ll get there. Those brown eyes tell a million stories.
