Mandela’s daughter Makaziwe Mandela and grandchildren Ndaba and Ndileka Mandela told the Daily Dispatch newspaper in East London there is a pool at the Mandela homestead (pictured above), but it’s not a fire pool. It is an ordinary swimming pool and it was paid for by the late Mandela himself.
Nhleko told the National Press Club in Pretoria Mandela’s home “also has a fire pool.” He even said a cattle culvert and walkway at the Mandela home were built at government expense.
Ndaba said the Mandela pool was built and paid for by her granddad in 2001 and 2002. “Whether there is a pool or not, everything was built with my grandfather’s money.”
Ndileka said: Even if there was a fire pool it was not built by government, and that is not a fire pool, it is a swimming pool.”
Makaziwe said: “What fire pool? That’s nonsense.”
