Your very own South African travel agent in South West London, Graeme Watson, checked out the only cruise ship to be launched in the UK this year, as a finalist in a national newspaper competition at the weekend to find the Face of Travel 2009.
Graeme, 32, beat off the challenge of 100 hopefuls to make the final of the competition run by industry newspaper Travel Trade Gazette.
Graeme had to present to a panel of industry experts during the launch celebrations of Celebrity Cruises’ newest ship, Celebrity Equinox, in Southampton on Saturday 25th July, after being voted into the final in an online poll.
Although he narrowly missed out on winning one of the two top accolades, he was praised by the judging panel for his professionalism and personality.
“It was an incredibly tough choice and all our 16 finalists were outstanding,” said TTG news editor Lee Hayhurst.
Graeme was very unlucky to miss out in the final judging but showed what fantastic people we have working in the travel industry.”
