The South African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) need volunteers to help at their Table View centre. If you love birds and conservation, and would like to volunteer your services, they would love to have you.
In a plea to the public on their Facebook Page, SANCCOB said: “Please get in touch to volunteer at our Table View centre in Cape Town if you have free time to dedicate to our cause. During the rehabilitation of rescued Cape cormorants, we urgently need assistance with laundry, cleaning stations and food preparation in the weeks ahead.”

Duties differ and include, cutting fish, filling syringes for tube-feeding, washing mats or doing laundry. There are also spots available in their internship programme at the penguin chick Nursery and Chick Rearing Unit.
Volunteers don’t need to have experience, they should just be willing to help and be over 18 years old. And also be available throughout the week.
Contact 076 682 5130 if you wish to sign up. Shifts are 7am to 1pm and 1pm to 6pm or a full day.
SANCCOB’s primary objective is to reverse the decline of seabird populations through the rescue, rehabilitation and release of ill, injured, abandoned and oiled seabirds. In 2021 they celebrate 53 years of assisting seabirds and making a difference to the environment.
