The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attacks saying they took revenge against an earlier military offensive against them in the Peshawar region of Pakistan. In the statement, the Department of International Relations and Co-operations in Pretoria said the attack on the school children incident violates international human rights and humanitarian law and constitutes a crime against humanity.
According to department spokesman Clayson Monyela (above) the killing of children is barbaric and should be condemned. “We condemn terrorism in all it’s shapes, forms and manifestations and from which ever quarter it comes from. The incident in Pakistan is particularly painful, because this was children who were targeted. We stand with the people of Pakistan and we call upon the international community to continue rooting out terrorism in our society. We send our condolences to the government and the people of Pakistan.”
