State of disaster, among other things, has been extended again as the government makes its decision around new rules for living with the coronavirus pandemic. The state of disaster would be in place for two years now.
State of disaster extended for another month
While the Sassa grant has also been extended, it is clear that the country is still finding its feet. This is just one of the myriad of issues and this is just one of them.
Right now, the State of disaster was set to expire on Wednesday, the 16th of March. As the government still comes to terms with the way the country moves forward.
According to Business Tech, some of the concerns are surrounded by alcohol bans as well as curfews should there be another Covid-19 outbreak.
Inconclusive decisions led to the extension
Currently, News24 has also expressed concerns that the health department might not have as much power. That is when the national State of disaster is declared over. Since the decisions are inconclusive at this point, it is extended by another month.

Since the coronavirus is not at a threatening point, the government does not see a need for it but, there are many things to consider before they officially make any changes.
However, President Cyril Ramaphosa has previously stated the extension from February to March. At this point, it might be extended again as it seems difficult to come to common ground within the government.
Hopefully this time around, the cabinet will have enough time to figure out how things should from this day forward. Surely everyone will not remain in limbo about how things should operate. Right now, businesses are not as heavily impacted as it was at the peak of the pandemic.
