The AA’s prediction is based on data released by the Central Energy Fund.
The AA said the South African fuel price “has yet to fully catch up with considerably lower international petroleum prices… However, a sharp depreciation of the rand versus the US dollar has been noticeable since December 4, and we will be monitoring this trend closely for the remainder of the month.”
According to BusinessTech.co.za, the expected price changes are:
- Petrol – R1.19 decrease
- Diesel – R1.44 decrease
- Illuminating paraffin – R1.32 decrease
The AA warned, however, that continued lower prices will “much depend” on political and economic stability in South Africa.
