As if 2020 and 2021 hasn’t been crazy enough – on Wednesday, 28 April – motorists on the N2 highway in Durban had to avoid galloping horses.
Several horses escaped from their enclosure and made their way up the N2 towards Tinley Manor on the north coast.
Video footage shows cars and trucks dodging the animals on the busy road. The video was shared widely, and social media users were left with many unanswered questions – the number one being: What exactly were they doing on the N2?

Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) spokesperson, Zinhle Mngomezulu, said they were looking into the incident.
Arrive Alive received multiple calls from concerned motorists.
“IPSS Medical Rescue dispatched nearby marked vehicles to assess the situation and how it could be safely managed. On arrival of units, it was established that the horses had safely left the roadway, without incident,” said Arrive Alive on their website.
