2 SA artists nominated in Britain's MOBO Awards

Published Date
02 October 2010

South African acts  BLK JKS and HHP are two of 14 African artists to earn nominations for the British music prize, the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) awards, in the category of Best African Act.

They're competing with many other nominees from African nations, including Somali-Canadian K'naan whose Wavin' Flag was synonymous with the World Cup celebrations in SA in June.

The MOBO awards were created 15 years ago to draw attention to the rise of urban music in Britain. All of this year's categories will be voted for by the public, except for best jazz and gospel act, which are juried awards. The MOBO winners will be announced in Liverpool on 20 October.
