SA hip hop artist nominated for US award

South African hip hop powerhouse Hip Hop Pantsula (HHP), has been nominated in America's prestigious Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards. HHP is nominated for the Best International Act Award alongside top African stars such as Somalia's K,naan, Nigeria's P-Square and Ghana's Kojo Antwi.

The rapper who recently collaborated with top American muso, Nas - says he is hoping that the Department of Arts and Culture will help him raise R80,000 he requires to attend the awards in Los Angeles on 27 June.

The BET Awards were established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment.
