So you want your hair to be longer, fuller or beautifully coloured in less time than it takes to blow-dry? There is no faster way of transforming your looks than hair extensions. But getting it right can be downright confusing. Here’s everything you need to know…

The Six Golden Rules

•    Experts agree that hair must be between three and five inches long for extensions to be applied effectively. Any shorter than that and you’re just asking for trouble!

•    Extensions can be used to add texture, thickness, fringes, colour and length. They allow the natural hair to grow unhindered and can be washed and styled like normal hair.

•    Avoid poor quality extensions (Great Lengths and American Dream are top brands)

•    Always ensure you find a reputable salon and qualified stylist. (Doyer & Doyer         Hair Design in Wimbledon Park and Bermondsey)

•    Maintenance program is essential to keep extensions looking their best. Make sure  you book appointments every six to eight weeks to replace loose sections and have a trim to maintain your hair’s condition.

•    Use Professional care and styling products to keep them in great condition for longer.
